“Like Salt Marshes, Like Yourself”

My newest short story, “Like Salt Marshes, Like Yourself,” will be published on March 29th in the Spring 2026 edition of the publication Tractor Beam.

Tractor Beam is a quarterly speculative fiction publication dedicated to “soilpunk,” a relatively new sub-genre that combines hopepunk and ecological fiction. They publish stories that explore radical visions of hopeful futures on Earth, exploring provocative, optimistic ideas around farming, food, and soil, and reimagining how humans can live more harmoniously with nature. Their motto is, “What if our brightest future weren’t in the stars but beneath our feet?”

I love this idea; it is hopeful, practical, and urgent. As our natural world continues to be destroyed, mistreated or ignored through exploitative, extractive practices, war and destruction, and short-sighted ideas related to profiteering and convenience, we need more stories that ignite our hearts and imaginations towards a better path.

I am very proud that my story was chosen by them for publication. You can find Tractor Beam here. Hope you enjoy the stories!
